  1. Adjusting the width of columns

Add a capability to define the lane/column width.
Some lanes will not have the same flow but the number of columns are fixed for all lanes.
Some columns can contain a large number of cards which pushes other lanes out of view. It would be helpful if you could change the width of a particular column to position cards side by side.

    thanks,

    Hello Gabriel,

Thanks for your feedback and voting on this idea. We have implemented this feature and you can now re-size the lanes by dragging the lane borders to the left or right. This feature is now live on the servers and hope it’ll be useful to you and your team.

Let us know if you have any feedback/ suggestion on this or any more ideas/ suggestions.

    Thanks,

  2. Change the default view of a Project swim-lanes to collapsed.

Every time we edit a project or open a project the swim-lanes automatically expand. This is very frustrating if you have a lot of swim-lanes. It really slows down the editing function because you have to re-collapse all of the lanes after every change or before you even make the change (in order to de-clutter your screen with all of the other swim-lanes)e

    Hi Carl,

Thanks for your feedback. We have implemented this change in the Kanban Board editor now and the Swim-lanes stay at the same place when you are editing it.

Hope this will help you in using Swift-Kanban better and faster. Let us know if you have any other feedback/ suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Swift-Kanban Team

  3. Complete the Smartlane functionality

Add the ability to provide WIP limits when creating Smartlanes based on Card Attributes. For example if creating Smartlanes based on Class of Service - provide the ability to add WIP limits to each of the 4 CoS categories. Otherwise the work-around is awkward - since we'd have to create our own custom CoS field.

    Hi Carl,

As we responded over email, the ability to define WIP limits for each Smart Lane( based on Class of Service or other attribute) is already available. Hope you were able to use it.

Let us know if you have any other suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Swift-Kanban Team

  4. Hover text for cards on Kanban board

Add text balloon on hover that contains the information about tasks and comments about a card. This would save some clicks when checking the tasks associated with a card.
Although the same thing is being done with card flips, it gets tedious clicking on card repeatedly

  6. Ownership of card should be optional when moving it

Have a preference set to either keep the default card move behavior (you move it, you own it) or keep the existing ownership. This would help a lot with my morning standups where I must re-assign the card when I move it.

  7. Allow user to copy/paste when entering a new card

when entering a new card, now matter how few char you get 'exceeds 3000 char'. You have to add the card, then update it to copy/paste in the details from email/request/etc.

    Hi Melissa,

We have now implemented this feature in SwiftKanban and it allows up to 12000 characters to enter, with an additional compression that will remove the unwanted space characters while copy-pasting.

Please do try it out and let us know if you have any further suggestions.

    Thanks,
    SwiftKanban Team

  8. Make process policies explicit

A very important aspect of Kanban is how it helps improve communication. How about doing this:
    - The list of card types already includes a Description field. It could be used to write the policy of each card type (this is, of course up to the user so nothing for Swift to do here)
    - The Kanban Board page include a "Legend" menu item. What I suggest to be added there is that once it is clicked and the legends are shown to then be able to mouse-over to see the policies (show the content of the description field)
    -…

    Masa,

Thanks for the feedback. This feature is now available in the product and allows you to view the description/ policies entered against any card type, when you hover on the Legend view.

Let us know if you have any other suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Swift-Kanban Team

  9. allow me to link to issues/cards via url

Currently I can't email someone a link to a certain card because urls never change according to navigation context.
It would be very helpful to have urls that describe the navigation context I'm in.

    Hi Douglas,

This is just to update you that we have implemented this feature that you requested i.e. ability to share links/ URLs for cards and this is now available in the product.

Do give it a try and let us know if this is what you were expecting.

Thanks again for your feedback and suggestions. We hope that you’ll find this feature useful and use it.

    Thanks,
    Swift-Kanban Team

  10. Require comment when WIP limit is exceeded

When a user pulls a card causing a WIP violation in a horizontal or vertical lane (i.e. swim lane WIP), they should be required to enter a reason why they are exceeding the WIP limit.

This could be a policy option too.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for your feedback and voting on this idea.

We have implemented a new policy that when enabled, prompts a user to add comments when a WIP limit is exceeded for a lane where the card is being pulled. This feature is now live on the servers and hope it’ll be useful to all of you.

Let us know if you have any feedback/ suggestion on this or any more ideas/ suggestions.

    Thanks,

  11. Add Collapsible Columns / Lanes

this would help with longer workflows and allow me to have a Backlog column on the far left. A little "twisty" icon would expand and collapse the columns as desired.

    Mike,

Thanks for your suggestion. This has been implemented – and now you can collapse both columns and lanes that you don’t want to see. The collased lanes/ columns will just show you the name and the number of cards they contain.

    Thanks,
    Swift-Kanban Team

  12. set cursor in login field

If I click on login, it would be nice if the cursor would be placed in the login field.

    Benefit: on click less

  13. Remove extra click on change Current State of todo

Changing the Current State of a todo requires 4 clicks. If you open the select box with the first click it would only require 3 clicks to change the Current State.

If the new Current State is saved after change you would not need the Save-Button. So changing would only require 2 Clicks.

  14. Provide metrics for average time spent on each board lane

The following chart would be very helpful for identifying improvement "hotspots" along the workflow:

For a given time window (specified by the user), create a distribution chart showing the average time (Y axis = average time) spent on each workflow lane (X axis = lane name) by all relevant cards.

"Relevant cards" can be either only cards already archived that entered and left all/some workflow lanes during the chosen time window or all cards (archived or not) that entered and left all/some workflow lanes during the chosen time window.

If a card entered and left the same lane several times…

  15. Support project-specific Lead Time and Cycle Time definitions

In order to make Lead Time and Cycle Time really useful for any given project, it should be possible for the project manager(s) to configure the board columns where the measurement should start and end.

This configuration should be made in the "Modify Process" area and NOT as something that can be configured when viewing the metric charts.

The following blog illustrates quite well why this idea makes sense: http://blog.brodzinski.com/2010/05/kanban-measuring-lead-time.html

    Hi Rodolfo,

We have now added a capability to select the Start/ End date and view the lead/cycle time accordingly.

Request you to give it a try and let us know if this meets your requirement or if you have any further suggestions on this.

Appreciate your valuable input. Thanks again for choosing SwiftKanban.

  20. don't password-protect an export to Excel.

I was just trying to export to Excel (for now, just the project list). I can't resize the columns because the worksheet is protected. To unprotect, it asks me for a password. Why on earth would an exported spreadsheet of my data ask for a password that I don't know?
